Child Support

When parents separate they need to make financial arrangements for the children. How parents do this depends on when separation occured and when the children were born.

If one of your children was born on or after 1 October 1989, or you separated after that date, you can agree on how much child support will be paid and register this as a Child Support Agreement. Alternatively the amount of child support that should be paid can be worked out by the Child Support Agency. To claim child support a person must satisfy certain criteria.
