Kathy Fairweather is a Solicitor at Quinn & Scattini, and is part of our Wills & Estates Team.

Kathy has been a solicitor since 1993. After qualifying, she worked in general practice, then joined one of Australia’s leading trustee companies, to specialise in Wills and Estates. While she was there she was promoted to Manager of the Legal Services Division.  Kathy’s work has always had a strong emphasis in Wills, Trusts and Powers of Attorney, Superannuation, estate administration and business succession planning.

Kathy understands the need for practical, easy to understand advice and solutions to meet her clients’ estate planning needs.  Kathy will discuss with each client their assets base and how to best use that base to achieve their wishes in their estate plans, whether that is by a simple Will or a more complex tax planning structure or business succession plan.

Some of the work in which Kathy has been involved include:

• Estate plans for couples in their second marriages where each client had children from previous marriages
• Estate plans which provide for the needs of a disabled child
• Estate plans for small to medium business clients where their current business structures incorporated multiple trusts and companies
• Business Succession Plans for small to medium business clients and supporting estate plans
• Estate plans for clients with assets both in Australia and overseas
• Estate plans for clients with relatives overseas whom the clients have wanted to provide for after their death on an on-going basis under a Trust
• Estate plans incorporating Self Managed Superannuation Funds
• Estate administrations which involved assets and beneficiaries in various countries other than Australia
• Family Provision Applications
